Lewyn Blackbourne Bish was born on July 7th 1929 to late parents Daniel Nathaniel Bish and Elsa Mae McIntosh in St. Catherine Jamaica. He passed away on November 5 2018 peacefully in the comfort of his home with Lucille one of his daughters by his side.
Lewyn worked as a farmer for most of his life to provide and support his family. On January 25 1956 he married his late wife Iscyline Maxwell in Smithfield St. Thomas. In June 2008 Lewyn left his home in Jamaica and moved to Columbus Ohio where he did handiwork here and there with his son-in-law Kenneth. He served as a Deacon at his new home church here at Beacon of Hope Seventh-day Adventist.
Bish was always happy, very smart and humbly caring man. He worked as a foster grandparent helping children to read. Oh he loved to read. He read everything especially those concerning history and Shakespeare. He would read the Gleaner (Jamaican newspaper) line for line, every page from front to back. He loved encouraging people, watching the news and best of all playing dominoes. His favorite scripture was Psalm 91 “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high because he hath known my name. Lewyn Bish LOVED the Lord with a passion to the point that it would sometimes bring him to tears.
He is a person with a wealth of knowledge and always sharing information. It is very hard to put 89 years into words for such a beautiful soul. Lewyn is father to seven loving children, –Leroy, Joyce, Thelma, Lucille, Ionia, Movetta and Nygel; 28 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
May he forever live in our hearts and always remember his favorite quote “To thine own self be true.”
