Marilyn Smith, 84, departed this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on Monday, September 10, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Robert H. Chever and Laura (Jackson) Chever.
Marilyn was a dedicated hard worker and she worked for many years for the Columbus Public School System before retiring. Marilyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very proud of her family.
Marilyn loved the outdoor life! She loved fishing for blue gill and crappies! She always seemed to know just where to go to catch her favorite fish! Her true passion lied within gardening. She would plant mainly vegetables that she would harvest throughout the entire season. She loved to plant flowers as well; Marigolds were her favorite.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Florine Huges. She is survived by her husband, John R. Smith; brothers, Robert Jr. (Barbara) Cheever, Leslie (Shirley) Chever; sister, Adele (George Sr.) Brownlee; daughters, Traci L.C. Smith, Angela (James) Gannon, and son, Robin H. (LaTonga) Smith, and grandchildren: Kristen, Kristopher, Kevon and Raylan Smith and several great grandchildren.
