William Jacquan Edwards was born November 6, 1982 to Jacqueline Harris-Madison. On June 20, 2019, he left an empty space here on this earth, but a lifetime of memories. Affectionately known as Wil, he was the second oldest of four children. Wil was a product of Columbus City Schools and participated in the Musical Arts program as member of the Wedgewood Middle School Concert Band, Briggs High School Marching/Concert Band, Jazz Band vocalist, Junior Choir and an original member of the Briggs High Show Choir.
Wil loved going to church and singing in the choir. At an early age, he joined Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor L.C. Brown and was baptized. There he participated along with his sisters Ellisa (Lisa), DeShawna and Mikaelle (Mikki) in the Ebenette Sunbeams, the Youth Choir, Mass Choir and New Generation Choir later named the Bishop Michael A. Dickerson Choir. He later joined Bibleway Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ where he sang in the Youth Choir, and The Elevation Church where he worshiped with his uncles and Dad. Wil also participated in the United Praise Community Choir, Men of Praise and multiple other singing aggregations. His strong tenor voice will be remembered forever. After years without a church home, Wil joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and rededicated his life to Christ.
Wil was raised by his grandparents, William Nathaniel and Ella Bell Harris. Being the only boy in a house full of girls, Wil always tried to get his way and sometimes it worked. Wil was big on family. He loved his three sisters, nieces, nephews, and family. He never met a stranger, to that point, everyone became family to Wil. If you crossed him though, he'd let you know where you stood with him.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Jacqueline Harris-Madison, Stepfather, Robert Madison, Maternal Grandfather, William Nathaniel Harris, Paternal Grandmother, Margaret Edwards, nephew Tavarus Edwards and niece Tyshawna Edwards.
Wil leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters; Ellisa (Brian) Coston, DeShawna and Mikaelle Edwards, nephews; William Nathaniel, JaiMell Lamar, DeShawn and Tavarius My'kell; nieces, Jacqueline Renee, Mauricia Monique, Amoni Janae, Madisyn Jayne and Ai'Shaila Monae; fathers Ocie Edwards and Cecil Lytle, Maternal Grandmother Ella B. Harris, Special Grandmother Mary Napper, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, "play" siblings, close friends especially, Clarence Armstrong, Bozellus Hill Jr., and Almeta Smith and too many others to name.
