AKIA FREDRICKA RODRIGUEZ, 23, of Columbus, Ohio, went home to heaven peacefully on November, 11, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was welcomed home by family, including her mother and father Theresa Dawn Williams and Fred Antonio Rodriguez.
Even though Akias time on this Earth was much too short, she managed to touch the lives of many with her kind heart and sense of humor. She was a bold lover and protector of her siblings. She was known to never hesitate to help a person in need, and always to be the first person in the room to tell a joke. Akia had a love and passion for animals, as she studied at Mifflin High School she aspired to be a Veterinarian. Throughout her life she often fostered pets in need and helped injured animals back to health. Akia was also loved for her beautiful voice. From the time that she learned to speak, she sang. She spent her time going on long extended walks with her dog, exploring the world around her and never being afraid to take a risk.
Akia is survived by: her siblings, most lovingly her twin sister, Akyah Rodriguez, and Kyajah Rodriguez, Kyounna Rodriguez, Kyoun Rodriguez, Kanye Williams, and Kamar Williams; her beloved dog, Dreka, who never left her side. Now as a guardian angel, Akia’s spirit lives on through them as they live on for her. They celebrate her life and carry on her memory. Akia is loved by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and godparents. Her memory is celebrated by her social workers, former foster parents, and friends.
In her final weeks, Akia spent her time surrounded by love. She enjoyed around the clock time with her siblings and family, who held her hand, kissed her forehead, read her books, fed her cold treats, shared pictures of their childhood, and reflected on their most joyful and laughter-filled memories. Even in her final moments, she kept us laughing with ease, quick to flash
us a look of attitude or squeeze our hands too tight when she wanted us to stay longer.
Today, we are confident Akia is happy, safe, and at peace in Heaven, held by her mother, father, and grandmother. Akia is forever loved by her family on both sides of eternity. Until we see her again, we know that she will live every moment loved by God and surrounded by the people who love her most. Akia’s light in this world transcends her absence. We know she is always with us, until we meet again.
