Alexis O’Neida Keyes, age 34, was born on October 15, 1985 in Flint, Michigan. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the age of 6. Alexis loved singing and dancing and not long after her baptism, she performed her first solo at church, “He has the whole world in His hands.” Alexis was such an independent child and free spirit and was loved by everyone on her block. She established many lasting friendships in Flint before The Keyes Krew relocated to Columbus, OH in August of 1996. After arriving and settling in Columbus, Alexis and her family joined and attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church under Pastor Roderick Peeks, Sr., for many years. In 2003, Alexis graduated from Hilliard Davidson High School where she co-founded the “Stepping Cats” step team, was a member of the marching band, member of the cultural awareness club and served as a peer mediator. During her time at Hilliard, Alexis made even more lasting friendships and impacted the lives of so many. She worked in three major corporations, GM, Volvo and Budweiser, before finding her true passion in the field of Real Estate. Alexis was a successful Real Estate agent in Columbus where she helped many clients find their dream homes.
Affectionately known by her family as Neida, she was ALWAYS the life of the party. Her smile could brighten a room and she never met a stranger. She made everyone feel like family and was always supportive of those she loved. She absolutely adored her nieces and nephews and considered herself everyone’s favorite “Te-Te.” But her daughter Azalia, her "Zellie," was the light of her life, her pride and joy, her baby bestie and MOST definitely her "mini-me!" She made an impact around the world and blessed so many people with her beautiful presence! On March 19, 2020, Heaven Earned an Angel and our lives are forever changed.
We can rest in knowing that she had a strong faith in God and firmly believed that He was always with her, whether she found herself in the valley or on the mountaintop. Though we are sad and will miss her dearly, we are confident that she is resting in Gods’ arms. She was a member of the First Church of God, under the leadership of Bishop Timothy J. Clarke.
