Amy Ruth Jeffries, age 74, died peacefully at home on September 4th, 2023, following a two-year fight against small cell lung cancer. She described her ongoing battle against cancer as, “My Journey.”
She took on chemotherapy, radiation, suffering, and ongoing pain to spend more time with her family. She made that choice, and paid that price, so that her loved ones could love her, honor her, celebrate her, and prepare to say goodbye to her for two additional years.
She made a brilliant choice. We will forever be grateful to her, and proud of her.
Amy was affectionately known as Ruth, Roof, Babe, Baby, Mom, Momma, Ma, Gran-Gran, Momma Jeffries, Cousin Al, Aunt Ruth, Ms. Amy, and more.
She was born August 02, 1949, in Brownsville, TN. She died in her bedroom, at home with her husband of 49 years. She was surrounded by the 802 photos that she printed out during her journey with family and friends. She passed in sight of her beloved red dazzler lilies that she planted outside of her window. Yes, those 6ft tall lilies that we all thought were annuals, but somehow sprang up again this year to everyone’s delight—especially hers.

Amy lived a vibrant life. She invested her time, energy, love, talents, and faith into the people around her. She fed strangers, adopted every lost soul who needed a mother, and extended her heart and her money to whomever needed it. Amy was a remarkable human being. She was special. Though she may be gone, her light, her warmth, and her compassion will live on in the memory of those who she has touched. And let us tell you something that you already know: she touched a LOT of people.
She will be eternally missed.
