Angela Redd

Angela “Angie” Denise Redd, age 55, peacefully transitioned on June 26, 2026 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Angie was born to the union of Michael and Diane Redd on December 22, 1970 in Columbus, Ohio. Bringing joy to their lives – Angie was an angel in their eyes – she thrived into being the most caring, kind, thoughtful, and compassionate human you could know – giving more than she received. She attended Elementary and Middle School at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Elementary School where she cultivated and maintained relationships with many life-long friends and High School at Fassett Junior High School (Toledo), Bishop Hartley High School, and graduated from Eastmoor Senior High School in 1989. Angie had a brilliant mind, she was an avid “speed” reader with extremely high comprehension skills, reading her favorite books over and over again; even at the dinner table while she ate. She was a mathematician, winning “Math B’s”; sweeping classrooms in every contest. Angie had the strangest – and sometimes most annoying – ability to remember and instantly recall the birthdays of anyone that she had any form of a relationship with. She briefly attended the University of Akron where she proudly pledged to be an Alpha Angel in 1990 – how fitting. Angie later developed a passion for the environment which led her to pursue a career in Environmental Science, becoming the first Black woman to earn an Associates of Applied Science in Environmental Technology at Columbus State Community College in 1995. She vigorously continued her pursuit in the Environmental field of study earning her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from The Ohio State University in 1999. Shortly thereafter, Angie took her brilliance and skill to work for Apptis, Inc. at DCSC (Columbus, Ohio) and Scott Air Force Base (O’Fallon, Illinois) as a Communications Hardware Specialist II with Top Secret Clearance for the United States government from 2002 -2014. Unfortunately, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) forced her – resistantly – into early retirement. However, Angie’s tenacious spirit did not allow her to give up on life – never complaining – and with her beautiful smile she gracefully continued being the angel she was known to be. She was the #1 Fan of the Pittsburg Stealers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Angie was a lover of children’s movies, which she greatly enjoyed watching with the many children in her life; she even loved going to the movie theater alone to watch whatever came out on the big screen. She was most adventurous, hitting the road at a drop of a hat, traveling the world to Hawaii, Dominican Republic, London, Paris, Italy, and many States throughout the U.S. Angie had an affinity for many genres of music, especially Old School, where she would often and abruptly break out into musical medleys – that we did not always want to hear. She was an avid collector of angels of any form – as she was.

Angie was preceded in death by her mother, Diane M. Williams; grandparents, Thaddeus & Carrie Redd; grandfather, Paul Hicks; grandmother, Helen Williams; aunts, Grace Philmore, Mary Rose Hunter, Sheilah Pauline Martin, Paulette Redd, Octavia Freeman, and Barbra Thomas; uncle, Bishop Wilson Jemison; and special-cousin, Kim Philmore.

Angie leaves to celebrate her life, fathers, Michael Redd and Michael Williams; grandmother, Georgia A. Hicks; grandfather, Avie Williams; aunts, Julia Hicks-Ball, Veda (Jack) Glenn; special-uncle, Pastor Michael (Kim) Jemison; uncles, Pat Jemison, and Michael (Jackie) Hicks; special-parents, Gary & Janice Jones; sisters, Tylondia (Carlos) Jones, Michelle Giamarco; brothers, James Williams, Jr. and James Myers; special cousins, Lawrence Ray Calloway, Jr., Sean Calloway, Pamela Redd, and Michael (Jamie) Redd; god-children, Tajh Jones, Jordynn Smith, Kyrah Jones, JaNiya Ingram, Paul Jackson IV, Carey Ingram II, Brandon Evans, and Derrick Hodge II; and special sister-friends, Nichole Leatherbury-Brandon, and Benita (Edward) Favours; the Jemison, Philmore, Phillips families, and numerous other relatives and friends.
