Angela Sylla was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was rooted in love, family, and quiet strength. A lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, Angela was known for always showing up when she was needed and for the deep care she poured into those she loved.
Angela was born to Walter Ramsey Sr. and Margie Ramsey. She was raised with strong family values that she carried throughout her life. She graduated from Central High School and went on to dedicate many years of service in the healthcare field. Angela was employed at Grant and Children’s Hospital, where she worked faithfully until her health no longer permitted, at which time she retired. Her commitment to caring for others was evident both professionally and personally.
Angela deeply loved her family. She was the proud mother of two children: her son Kerry “ Chopp” Ramsey, and her daughter Adrienne (Erynn Williams) Baskin. She was a loving grandmother to Kamaury Baskin and Daisha Harper, who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, William & Ada Mathews, Willie Ramsey & Eula Davis; and several beloved relatives, including sisters Brenda Kirk and Katherine Ramsey; brothers Walter Jr. and Jacob Ramsey; aunts Dorothea(doe) and Faylle Mathews, Joyce Smith, Inez and Josie Ramsey; uncles Edmund Davis, Paul Davis, and Theodore Mathews; niece Ernesta (gaylon) Ramsey; nephews Anthony Ramsey and DeJuan Holmes; and great niece Mynia Ramsey.
Angela leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Marjorie and Victoria Ramsey; her brothers, Anthony Young, Roger Ramsey, and Antonio “Tony” Ross; her aunts, Betty Payne, Julia (William) Baskin, and Phyllis Baskin; her uncle, Lawrence Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She is also lovingly remembered by her honorary family The Mitchell/Wheelers.
Angela had a love for fashion and traveling. One of her favorite places to visit was Las Vegas, especially the Wax Museum, which she enjoyed immensely. Known affectionately as “Angie” by her family, she will be remembered for her reliability, her warmth, and her unwavering presence during life’s most important moments.
Though she will be deeply missed, Angela’s love, legacy, and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
