Athena Cherish Johnson, a bright and spirited 13-year-old, transitioned on November 3, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. She is deeply loved and will be missed by her mother, Crystal Blackmon, and her siblings, Billie Forte III and Layla Dumas.
Athena was a vibrant eighth grader at Highland Learning Academy. Her love for dancing and singing brought joy to everyone she met. Whether she was performing or just having fun, Athena's infectious energy made everyone smile and want to join in.
A true lover of life, Athena had a special fondness for unicorns, dressing up in princess gowns, carrying purses, wearing high heels, and experimenting with makeup. She dreamt of becoming a singer one day, and her talent, warmth, and enthusiasm made those around her believe that anything was possible.
Athena expressed her affection through hugs, cuddles, and thoughtful gestures, often drawing pictures for her teachers and family. She had a way of making every person she encountered feel important and special. No one was ever a stranger to Athena, who would eagerly introduce herself with, "Hey, my name is Athena Johnson. What's your name?"
Her favorite songs were "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston and "Your Spirit" by Tasha Cobbs, and she could always be heard singing them with joy.
Athena’s bright spirit and loving heart will forever be remembered. She brought light into the lives of everyone around her, and her big smile and boundless love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
