Barbara Smith Bain

Barbara Ann Smith Bain was born on May 28, 1961 in Cincinnati Ohio. She departed this life on July 8, 2020. She was the eldest of five children born to the union of Robert and Lizzie Smith.

Barbara was affectionately known to her family and childhood friends as BOBANN. She attended Cincinnati Public Schools and furthered her education by attending CTC; which is currently Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. While in Cincinnati, Barbara attended Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church under the leadership of Pastor Perry Jennings who would later welcome her to the Christian family and baptize her. Cincinnati continued to be her home until she married and relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1987. Once settling into Columbus, she secured a job with the Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI), where she worked for 30 years; retiring on September 30, 2018. During her tenure at ODI, she furthered her education by attending Columbus State Community College, where she received an Associate of Science in Business Management. She later continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science Business Management in Human Resources from Franklin University.

Barbara was a diligent and faithful member of Hilltop Seventh-day Adventist Church where she served under the leadership of Pastor Jack McCreary. Barbara was the epitome of a ‘faithful servant’. She lived a life that was pleasing to God! There is no such thing as perfection; however, her life exemplified and truly embodied excellence. She was very active within her church and she served as the Director of Education; Assistant Treasurer; Finance Chair; Usher, Basketball Marketing Director and she sang in the choir. On Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the age of 59, Barbara left her earthly home and went to live in her new home with her forever King Jesus.

She leaves to cherish her parents Robert and Lizzie Smith; three sisters, Arnice Smith (Cincinnati), Betty Rhodes (Willis), (Alabama), AlGusta Davis (Cleveland) and 3 brothers Jerome, Robert and David Smith all of Cincinnati; two sons, Dr. E. Robert Lattimore (Maria) (Nashville), Demetrius A. Hall (Columbus) and five grandchildren; Tyree, Justice, Kai, Mila, and Demi, devoted friends Gail Canady, Virginia Covington, Wayna Gray, Theresa Reedus, Rhonda Daniels, Twila Fultz, Valeria Effiong, Peggy Lambert, Christie Richardson, Cynthia Bowman and Janis Moore and host of other family, friends, and extended family who love and cherish her.
