Bernard Thacker II Obituary

BERNARD TYRONE THACKER II, age 36, peacefully transitioned from this life on January 20, 2025. He was born on January 18, 1989, in Manassas, Virginia, to Bernard Tyrone Thacker, Jr., and Dreamalee Thacker. Bernard is the fourth son out of five—Jerry, Shauntae, Jamel, and Catrell.

From a very young age, Nard was a loving and cheerful child. He loved food and would order two Big Macs and two Large Fries; did I mention that he was only three years old? His love for food led to him developing his culinary skills, making him not only a Master Chef at home but also catering for others.  He learned to cook with passion and determination.

As a long-time resident of Columbus, Ohio, Bernard attended Columbus City schools. He was a graduate of Independence High School. While attending he played football and track & field.  Bernard met the love of his life, Kia Richmond-Johnson, in the tenth grade, and they have been inseparable ever since. 19 years and two kids later, Bernard's love for his wife and kids meant everything to him. He was a devoted father and husband, provider, protector, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, son-in-law, and friend.

Bernard developed a love for music. He learned how to make beats, rap, and perform. He had a group with his brothers and friends under the label Dam Hogz, which later transitioned into Hog Life ENT. He produced many songs and went by the name Krity City. He even auditioned for America’s Got Talent.  He took his cousin, Bryanna, under his wing and taught her everything he could as a teenager about music. He even gave her the software to create her music. They performed together and had a wonderful stage presence with lots of followers.  Bernard had many passions, like food, music, tattooing, video games, and traveling; no matter what the endeavor, he gave his all and always had the love and support of his heart, “Kia”.

Bernard was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bernard Gus Thacker, Sr., and Veronica Livee Johnson-Thacker; great-grandparents, Sherman Johnson and Argertha Vestelia Dilver-Johnson; great-great-grandparents, William Waitman Dilver and Mary Elisabeth Bundy-Dilver; and maternal grandparents, William Alexander Williams and Thelma Irene Hickman.

Bernard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kia Richmond-Johnson, of Columbus, Ohio; mother, Dreamalee Welch (Joseph) of Etna, Ohio; father, Bernard Tyrone Thacker, Jr., of Austin, Texas; daughter, Neveah Johnson-Thacker; son, Nasir Raheem Johnson-Thacker of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Jerry Derrell Neal, Shauntae Leon Neal, Jamel Deon Neal, and Catrell Lamar Thacker (Ce Ce), all of Etna, Ohio; bonus brother, Sir Winston of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Briana Walker of Richmond, VA; mother-in-love, Gayla Johnson; sister-in-love, Riian Eiland (Landon) of Columbus, Ohio; special aunt, Joyce Dilver of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
