Beverly Caldwell Obituary

BEVERLY JEAN PRYSOCK was born on April 14, 1945, and she was the third of 5 children born to Willie and Harriet Prysock. At 80 years old she peacefully departed this life on January 6, 2026, at the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital.

In March 1972, Jean married the love of her life, James Edward Caldwell, and together they raised 2 beautiful children, Jason and Jaime.

Jean was a superwoman with so many gifts and talents that there aren’t enough pages to list them all. She was a wonderful cook, (shout out to her chicken and dumplings, potato salad, pound cake, molasses cookies, Texas sheet cake, and the list goes on and on) loved to sew and you better not say anything bad about THE Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed reading her James Patterson novels, watching her Christmas movies, going shopping and taking pictures with her sissies. Jean loved going to the movies and never missed a chance to go with her husband and kids. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she loved to go all out with decorations and looked forward to the holidays so she could spend time with her family. She always looked forward to the family’s annual sister girl celebration. The quality time that she spent bonding with her daughters, sisters, nieces, and friends was priceless. She was everyone’s favorite and always made you feel like you were hers.

Jean was educated in the Columbus public school system and graduated from Franklin University with a degree in accounting. For many years she worked at Columbia Gas, where she met her lifelong friends. During her semi-retired years, Jean started a cleaning business and began working for Matrix Media Services. She loved working there and never stopped praising the company and the people.

Thank you to mom’s besties for 20+ years Bonnie Lucas, Kelley Miller, Melanie Pitzer, Nancy Heimberger, Marianne Schuster, and newbie, Judy Penrod. Your friendship and support added so much love and happiness to her life. Jean treasured your vacations, birthday celebrations and spending time with you. We would also like to acknowledge Gwen Mendenhall who has been her friend since the third grade and Carol ‘Barrel’ Hout. Mom couldn’t have been blessed with a better group of friends that are family to us and the memories that you share are forever.

Beverly Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Willie R. and Harriet F. Prysock, Sr.; brother, Willie R. (Gilda)Prysock, Jr.; sister, Willa Mae (Melvin) Brown; and nephews, Steven Woodford and Timothy Rispress.

She leaves to cherish her memory loving husband of 53 years James Caldwell; son, Jason (Diamond) Caldwell, daughter Jaime (Edward) Stegall; grandchildren, Jordan, and Javon  Caldwell, Dominique and Daylen Stegall; great-granddaughter, Farrah Stegall; sisters, Elizabeth Ann McNeal and Brenda (James) Rouchion; brother-in-law, Clarence Caldwell. She has a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that she adores and each of them had a special relationship with her.
