Brenda Lee Kimbro Sowell, 81, went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2024, at her home after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Brenda retired from Franklin County after a dedicated 30-year career as a daycare provider, where her love for children was evident as she welcomed them into her home.
Born as the youngest of eight children, Brenda was the heart and soul of her family. As the matriarch, she was a great provider whose affection for her loved ones knew no bounds. Everyone who had the pleasure of tasting her cooking can attest to her culinary talents; she was particularly famous for her delicious Greens and Ribs, though she humorously claimed that homemade dumplings remained an elusive skill.
Brenda had an innate ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger; she embraced everyone as a friend. Her love for flowers reflected her vibrant spirit, as she cherished all kinds, adding a touch of beauty to her surroundings.
Fashionable and well-put-together, Brenda had a flair for style. She adored prints, sequins, and especially leopard patterns, showcasing her unique personality through her wardrobe.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Irene Kimbro; son, Robert Sowell Jr.; grandson, Andre Sowell; brother, Thomas Kimbro; sisters, Eileen Kinzer, Geraldine Jackson, Margaret Broady, Iris Drake, and Ondrea Parham.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: son, Stephan; daughters, Teres and Trina (Gene) Sowell; granddaughters: Octavia, Shanta, Breonna (Derek), Talia (Justin Sr.), Stefanna, Tianna, Mikah, Aerial, and Solei, grandsons: Taiijon, Stephen, Tomas, Robert, Robert III; brother-in-law, Richard (Jackie) Sowell; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Brenda will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts.
