Brenda Elizabeth (Peterson) Wilder was born on December 16, 1943, to the late Carl and Margaret Peterson. She was born and raised in Grove City, Ohio until she graduated from Grove City High School in 1961. She retired from The Ohio State University Hospitals after many years of service as an Administrative Assistant.
Brenda discovered the Lord and a love for singing at an early age. She was a self-taught pianist and gave lessons to many. This led to her constant involvement in music ministry throughout her life. She served as musician at Union Baptist Church, Independent Missionary Baptist Church, and at her final church home, Rock of Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bob Duckens. In Her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Brenda first laid eyes on David Wilder around the age of 13, not knowing that he would one day be her husband. Later in life, they met and married in 1974. They lovingly supported and cared for one another for 42 years until his untimely passing in 2016. “God has always kept me!” was her personal mantra. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and
friend. She had a hug or a word for anyone who needed something only a Mom could provide. If she had it, you had it. She was the family Queen and Matriarch. To many others, she was simply “Nana”.
Brenda transitioned peacefully to her eternal rest on November 26, 2021, at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Juanita Peterson; beloved husband, David Wilder; brothers: Carl Peterson Jr, Robert Peterson, and Donald Peterson; and
granddaughter Zahara Moody.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jeffrey Davis (Serbennia), Chaundra Davis (Dana) and Linda Moody (James); grandchildren, Rachel, Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Josiah, Abigail, Janae, Tyler, Perrace, and Serbennia; bonus granddaughter, Kiani Mullins; great grandchildren, Annicia, Michal, Terrence, and Trenton Jr.; great-great grandchildren, Jay’lanii and Mijon; sister-in-law, Rena Peterson; along with a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
