Catherine B. Meadows Paschal was born in Columbus, Ohio, on August 1, 1934, to Lloyd Elmer Jones and Sadie Bell Jones. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
After the passing of her parents, Catherine was adopted at an early age by William and Charlotte Adams of Columbus, Ohio. She was baptized as a child into the fellowship of Gay Tabernacle Baptist Church in Columbus. Catherine graduated from Chillicothe High School at the age of 17 and continued her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Columbus, Ohio.
Catherine was a trailblazer in her career. She became the first African - American female Head Cashier at Kroger in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and later made history again as the first African - American female Head Teller at Railroad Savings & Loan in Columbus, Ohio. She retired from Allstate Insurance Company as a Senior Claims Examiner Specialist.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Elmer Jones and Sadie Bell Jones; her adoptive parents, William and Charlotte Adams; her aunt, Orpha Vincent; her brother, Lloyd A. Jones; her husband, Alvin Paschal Jr.; her daughter, Anita Meadows Street; her son, Craig A. Meadows; her son-in-law, Roger Travenia; and her granddaughter, Serita L. Meadows.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, James E. Meadows III (Andranette) and Jeffrey W. Meadows of Columbus, Ohio; her daughters, Paula J. Travenia of Rice, Texas, and Lori A. Stepney (Rommey) of Columbus, Ohio; and her brother-in-love, Kenneth Meadows (Rosalyn) of Columbus, Georgia; and her son-in-law, Richard Street of Bassett, Virginia. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Catherine shared a special bond with Rachel McMillian, Carol A. Jones, and Ava Carter, all of Columbus, Ohio.
Catherine will be deeply missed and remembered as a loving, strong, and resilient pillar of her family and community.
