Charmaine Finney Obituary

Charmaine Finney, beloved daughter of the late Minnie Francis Reed and Lester Finney, Sr., was born on February 5, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio. She made her peaceful transition from her earthly life to everlasting life on May 16, 2023.

Charmaine was educated in the Columbus Public school system and attended Mowhawk Jr. Sr. High School. She was also a well-known and liked cheerleader. She went on to work at the
Defense Supply Center Columbus and Blue Cross Blue Shield for many years.

Charmaine had a radiant smile that could brighten even the darkest of days and a sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her. She had an impeccable sense of fashion and always exuded style. She had a flair for putting together unique and stunning outfits, capturing attention wherever she went. Her vibrant personality and fashion sense made her a true trendsetter. And we cannot forget that she loved her fishnet stockings.

Charmaine absolutely adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she instilled in them the value of family. She truly cherished the quality time she spent with her family and friends. She was a loving and caring person and although not perfect, she had a heart of gold. During her free time, if she wasn’t shopping, you could find her listening to music and cooking a well-seasoned meal.

Charmaine was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Francis Reed; grandparents, Minnie Sue Reed and Lowell Latham; brothers, David Finney and Chad Finney; uncle, George Latham;
aunts, Hattie Barlow, Margaret Maddox, Sandra Maddox, and Betty Latham; grandchildren, Zuri Watson and Jaleel Watson; honorable son, Justin Tyler, Sr.; and father of her children, Bernard Anderson.

Left to cherish her memory are: her precious children, Sonequa Maddox, Chauncia Maddox, Chad Maddox, Sr., and Berne’tra Anderson; father, Lester Finney, Sr.; grandchildren, Daizhon
Maddox, Justin Tyler, Ja’Den Maddox, Shiann Yancey-Maddox, Shawyna Yancey-Maddox, Chad Maddox, Jr., Maikhi Harper-Maddox, and Savyaughn Yancey; great-grandchildren, Jurnee Tyler, Dai’miyah Maddox, Kaleb Alexander-Maddox, and Daliah Maddox; long-time boyfriend, Lavoris “LA” Holley; siblings, Lester Finny, Jr., Jacqueline “Jackie” Finney, Jevice Finney, Lakisha Coates, and Davon Coates; father of children, Barry Maddox, Sr.; close loved ones, JB Luckett, Johnny Hairston, The Bivens Family, and The Belcher Family; beloved pets, Dewayne, Bubba, Bear, and Vezzo; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Charmaine’s memory will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends. They will miss her outgoing personality dearly and her ability to speak her mind. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to guide and comfort those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her spirit continue to shine brightly as they carry her love in their hearts.
