Charmell Abbington Obituary

Charmell was born on April 23, 1963, to Pastor Gilbert R. and Willa Mae Abbington, Sr. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and attended Columbus City Schools. She worked serving and caring for others throughout her entire life. Charmell grew up amongst her two brothers, Tyron and Gilbert, Jr. (June), where she was known to be a fierce protector and nurturer to many. Charmell has always loved the lord displaying her angelic voice. As a little girl she was given the privilege to record a song that was the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ theme song written by the Late Evangelist Mary Baker, and it opened up every radio broadcast with her and her godbrother, Apostle Rickey Baker, leading out that New Jerusalem. She later become the director of the church choir under the leadership of her father Pastor Gilbert R. Abbington, Sr. She has truly always been a star!  Charmell later went on to have six children and eighteen grandchildren, who were all her pride and joy and who she loved and cherished deeply. Charmell was most known for her uplifting spirit, personality, and bright beautiful smile. She loved spending time with her family and friends who are all very familiar that when you hear “AYYYEEE,” Charmell is in the room!
