A TIME TO BE BORN: Christopher Allen Byrd (Chris) was born July 30, 1976, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Richard B. Byrd II and Alberta Douglas. Chris was a beacon of kindness to those he loved and cared about, showering countless lives through his unwavering compassion, wisdom, and selflessness he gave.
A TIME TO LIVE: Chris was raised in Columbus, Ohio, and attended Columbus Public School System. His high school years he attended East High school and went on to obtain his G.E.D. Chris loved sports and at the early age of seven, he began playing little league football with the Mt. Vernon Tigers. Chris was a monster on the field he was known as “The Tank”. He was a dominant force on a traveling basketball team. Chris was known for the brightest, persistent, and infectious smile. His smile would prove to be a superpower. He would walk into the room, and you would see his bright whites before you would see him. Anyone who knew Chris, knew his favorite team was the Michigan Wolverines. Chris had an outstanding work ethic and was currently working for Solutions
Staffing as a forklift operator and enjoyed working in construction and the manual labor field.
A TIME TO LOVE: Chris loved his family, especially his children, mom, dad, and siblings. Chris was blessed with children: Christopher A. Byrd, Jr., Chania A. Byrd, and Christian A. Byrd. Chris was so excited about spending time with his children and enjoyed gaming with his son. Chris had such a big heart and extended his love beyond his immediate family. He loved his siblings Richie, Eric, and Shayla. He also had a special bond with his nieces, Khylah and Lyric, and nephew, little Richie. He would often travel to West Virigina to attend their games or to go see his big brother Richie, box, and spend time with the family.
Chris was preceded in death by brother, David Jabbar Smith; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Jeanette Cochran, and Henry and Mae Smith; paternal grandparents, Richard B. and Geraldine Byrd; aunt, Pamela and Charles James; cousins, Charles James, Jr., and Keion Smith.
Those left to cherish his loving memories are: parents, Alberta Douglas and Richard B. (Ernestine) Byrd II; sons, Christopher A. Byrd, Jr., and Christian A. Byrd; daughter, Chania A. Byrd; brothers, Richard B. Byrd III and Eric L. Byrd; sister, Shayla N. Byrd; nieces, Khylah and Lyric; nephew, Richard Byrd IV; aunts, Jeanette Smith, Denise Byrd, and Demetria (Norman) Byrd Vaughn; uncles, Lawrence (Debi) Smith and Gerald Byrd; special cousins, Romell Young and Martez Smith; and a host of great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins and friends.
Though life was tragically cut short, his impact on those who knew him will last forever. His legacy will live on in the hearts of family and friends whose lives he touched.
A TIME TO DEPART: Chris flew softly into the arms of God on January 13, 2025, at his residence in Columbus, Ohio, and took up his new residency, where he now has eternal rest and peace.
