Obituary

Comecka “Mecka” Yulette Booker was born in Montgomery, West Virginia, on March 2, 1974.  Comecka was the beloved daughter of Debra Dalene Booker and Thomas Pierce, Jr., of Columbus, Ohio.  Comecka attended Fayette County public schools and graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1993.  Mecka was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church of Garten, West Virginia, at an early age. She grew up in the church and was very active in all youth activities. She was member of the youth choir and participated in the youth plays, summer activities, and fundraising “King and Queen” pageants. Comecka visited a few churches when she relocated to Columbus, Ohio, and she joined the Mount Gerizim Baptist Church under the leader-ship of Pastor Jack Watkin.

After graduating and moving to Columbus, Comecka was employed by Schottenstein Stores for a few years. Later, she gained employment at the United States Post Office. While working there, she discovered she had some health issues and decided to end her employment.  Mecka chose to go back to work and was hired as a server at MCL Restaurant for short while. Mecka’s health began deteriorating, and she had to resign.

Comecka was an amazing mother; she loved Tyrec with her whole heart. They have always been very close. She took care of him as he grew up and then he cared for her as her health declined. Mecka was a wonderful person, both kind and beautiful. She loved people and gatherings; when she was around, there was always laughter.  She had an amazing sense of humor, quick wit, and an infectious laugh. She would always come up with hilarious nicknames for people. There were no strangers to Mecka everyone was her friend. Anyone who knew her loved her; she was a true blessing from God. It was a pleasure knowing her, loving her, and calling her family. She will be greatly missed.

Comecka was preceded in death by both her parents, Debra D. Booker and Thomas Pierce, Jr.; daughter, Miracle Booker; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Juan- ita Booker; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Marilyn Pierce; aunts, Betty Jean Coleman and Anita Pierce; uncles, Thomas Booker, Gregory Booker, and James Garrison.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Tyrec J. Booker; brother, Corey Booker; aunts, Joyce (Ernest)

Green-Williams, Barbara Gibson, Kathleen Smith, Karen Guishard, Marsha (Clifford) Riley, Cheryl (William) Thompson, and Cheria Pierce; uncles, Delbert (Nancy) Booker, Jerry Pierce, and Gregory Pierce; niece, Rayna Booker; nephew, Judah Boooker; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
