Crystal Regina Valentine-Gould was born March 16, 1953, to Clark and Mildred Valentine. “Christy” as she was affectionately known, was the youngest of her parent’s five children. Christy was raised in church at Good Samaritan Baptist church. She was baptized at the early age of six. She loved to sing in the choir and was a member of a several choirs and praise team including Southfield Missionary Baptist church in Columbus, Ohio, Full Zion Gospel Ministries and Golden Memorial United Methodist Church in Douglasville, Ga.
Christy attended Columbus Public Schools. She was a member of the Gospel choir at Columbus East High school where she graduated. Years later, Christy gave birth to her son Marc V. Willis II and then to her daughter Tamara M. Valentine. She dedicated her life ensuring her children’s needs were met. She was a very proud mother; her children and grandchildren gave her much joy. Although these were the only children she birthed, Christy was a second mom to many others.
Crystal met Rigoberto Gould, and, in the fall of 2001, they were married; soon after they would move and build their lives together in the state of Georgia. Their loving union lasted over twenty years. Christy was an exceptional employee. She worked for Owen’s Illinois Tech-no Glass where she was a Lead and the union representative. She also worked as a home health aid and security guard. Christy was a compassionate woman who found pleasure in serving the homeless. She was involved in several organizations and charities with the goal of taking care of the homeless including ‘The Pink Ladies of Excellence.’
