David Francis Obituary

On March 22nd 1957 in Columbus, Ohio, God blessed the marital union of Chester and Pearl Francis with the birth of their youngest son, David Eugene Francis. David happily grew up on the southeast side of Columbus. He participated in the recreation program at Kent Elementary, played reserve basketball at Roosevelt Jr. High and became a proud graduate of South HighSchool Class of 1975.

David attended Union Grove Baptist Church as a young boy with his parents. Later in life he would accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through a friend who was a minister.

David's interest in culinary arts began with his first job at downtown Lazarus in The Chintz Room. It is there he met longtime friend William (Bill) Williams Sr. After leaving Lazarus, Bill made David a manager and one of the chefs at his newly opened restaurant The Marble Gang on Mt Vernon Ave. When the Marble Gang closed, David became Special Events Manager for Glory Foods. He was a faithful and dedicated employee.

David was a quiet fun loving individual. David liked sports and was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns. One of his greatest passions was cooking. David would often cater graduations, birthdays, wedding receptions and holiday parties for family and friends. He loved seeing people enjoy the food he created. His other passion was supporting his family in everything they did. David always made an effort to attend any activity or school function his children or nieces and nephews participated in. You always knew he would be in the crowd cheering you on. Although he was battling his own illness he insisted on remaining primary caregiver for his bedridden father.

On October 28th 2020, the Lord God Almighty decided that David Eugene Francis would transition from labor to reward. David is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Pearl BlufordFrancis. He is survived by Father, Deacon Chester Francis; Children, Jamecia and Kristofer Little; Special friend; Jamecia Louise Little,  Brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and VernitaFrancis; Sisters and brother-in-law, Victoria and Roy Woodson-levey, Chesteen Francis; Uncle and Aunt, Rev. Willie and Virginia Bluford; Aunt, Sally Francis of Roanoke Va; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
