David Harmon Obituary

David Edward Harmon, the son of Eugene Harmon, Sr. and Delores Caldwell was born on May 27, 1951. A lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio he attended East High School where he played football with his beloved brother, Eugene “Baby Huey” Harmon. After completing High School he entered the workforce as an employee of Timken Roller Bearing company, where he worked for 17 years.  During this time, he became the proud father to Kirsten, Desserrae and David Jr. On April 12, 1982, he married the love of his life Harriett Carmen and became the loving father of Tara, Darcy, and La'Mont.

In 1994, David followed Harriett’s lead and was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist church on October 15th. He served both the Ephesus Seventh day Adventist church and the Hilltop Seventh-day Adventist churches holding positions on the nominating committees, finance committees, and serving as a Deacon, Director of Hospitality, as well as a host of official and unofficial roles. David Harmon is most remembered for his culinary skills and love of cooking. Many members of the Adventist church looked forward to seeing David's warm smile and hearing his hearty laugh as they passed through the kitchen at the yearly Allegheny West Conference Camp Meeting where he served as the Head Chef. David was a dedicated and faithful servant of God and used his gifts to bring glory to Him.

David also had a huge heart for the young people of the church.  He and Harriett often filled their home, and the homes of fellow members, with boisterous young college and graduate students who needed a Sabbath meal. Through this effort they gained a host of bonus children, many of whom lovingly called David, Dad.

Along with a genuine love for people, David had many hobbies that included cars, real-estate, and the Frank Loris Petterson Society- which is a group that is focused on mentorship.

David took his rest at his home on Sabbath May 14, 2022.

Predeceased by his son Darcy “Dee” Carmen,

David leaves to mourn his passing his cherished wife Harriett; children, Tara Carmen, David Harmon Jr "Man" (Angeline) Desserrae "Desi" Kyles (Torrey Sr., [Torrea and Torrey Jr.]), Kirsten Robinson [Sterling], & La'Mont “Mont” [Heather and C.C.] Carmen.

He now rests in the promise of our Lord and Savior and we can surely say: David fought the good fight, he has finished the race, and he has kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give him at that day: and not to him only, but unto all them also that love his appearing (2 Timothy 4:7).
