David C. Hawkins (Chris/Day Day), age 41, born September 30th, 1980, in Cincinnati, Ohio, began his eternal rest on August 6th, 2022. He passed away at Riverside Hospital, surrounded by family members, after battling cancer for many months.
David was born to Michael Hawkins and Gloria Elaine Connally-Hawkins of Cincinnati, Ohio. The family lived in Cincinnati for several years, before relocating to Columbus, Ohio, in 1986.
David attended school in the Columbus Public School District through high school, eventually graduating from Independence High School, in 1999. David worked various jobs around Columbus, until deciding to attend culinary college. Upon graduating, he worked as a chef at the Sheraton on Capitol Square, as well as other Columbus area restaurants. After years in the culinary field, David applied to Electrical Union Local IBEW 683. Once accepted, he worked passionately as a dedicated electrician for several years, until his passing.
David was very independent and lived life on his own terms. He was a serious sports fanatic, who especially enjoyed the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oakland Raiders, and the Los Angeles Lakers. He also loved fishing, working on cars, cooking, playing video games, spending time with his children/fiancé, beginner plant keeping, and had very recently started a garden at his home.
David was a member of New Day, CLGI, where he enjoyed hearing gospel music and the word of God. He was a very outgoing individual ,who had an abundance of friends and people who loved and adored him.
David was the father of six children. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Collyn Hawkins; grandmothers, Ruby Hawkins and Glenda Connally; grandfathers, Davis Hawkins and Robert Connally; and Collyn’s mother, Lovelee Lawanda Kirk.
David is survived by his father, Michael (Donna) Hawkins; mother, Gloria Elaine Connally; uncle, Ronald D. Hawkins; aunts, Dr. Lee Barbara Connally & Vern Connally; siblings, Andrea Hawkins & Dread XR Connally; children, Robert Akins, Christopher Hawkins, Christen “Shay” Hawkins, Jovanni Hawkins, Cameron “Cammy” Hawkins; nieces and nephews, Justice Hawkins, Jahlen Higgins, Jordan Sutton; his loving fiancé LaTasha Clifford and her children/grands, Mykkel, Michael, Keosha, Nevaeh; cousin, Adam; and his children’s mother, Shayla.
For those mourning our loss, be not saddened by the way he passed away. Instead, celebrate his life and legacy. David was a fighter and now it’s time to rest…our son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, fiancé, and beloved friend.
