David Turner Obituary

David Turner was born to the late Charles H. Turner Sr. and Ruth (Phillips) Turner, on Monday, June 15, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio. David received a special invitation from the Lord to enter the Kingdom of Heaven from Time to Eternity. God dispatched two angels by the names of Healing and Love to personally escort him into the Lord’s presence on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Ohio State University Ross Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

David graduated from East High School and later began his passion in working with Buckeye Steel for over four years and later joined the 7-Up Company where he excelled and later retired after thirty-three exemplary years. He was a wonderful man, and loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. David was very compassionate, a peacemaker, a problem solver, understanding, kind and generous.  He was also known as “Cool Dave.” He loved music, especially the Blues and the Motown Sounds, and his favorite football team the Cleveland Browns. He loved to play cards, Scrabble, winning at the casinos, and playing Dominos. Dave spent hours of his time with family and friends, and was well-known to make BBQ ribs and made the Best Sauce that should have been marketed as well as sold in every supermarket. He ALWAYS had a SMILE on his face, saying “Hey Babe”. He had a passion for fishing, and proudly won several Fishing Tournaments. David was a man of so many talents. He went back over forty years putting together videos and pictures of family and friends, so they could reminisce and look back at everyone’s years of joy and happiness. Don’t you remember The O’Jay’s?  Well, that’s him performing one of his favorite songs “Family Reunion”.  As you can see he was greatly loved and shared his love and time with family and friends. David never met a stranger and will be greatly missed; his warm smile and bright laugh touched our hearts; he brought so much love, joy and fun to all our lives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Charles H. Turner, Sr. and Ruth (Phillips) Turner; sisters: Mae (Albert) Smith; Jeanette (Lawrence) Cochran, Carolyn Nowlin, Brenda Dillard, beloved brother: Charles H. (Freddie T.) (Peggy) Turner, Jr.
