Dawn Foster Obituary

Dawn would like to let you know that her work here is done. On March 30,2024, God opened the skies and guided Dawn to Heaven. Born on January 12, 1970, in Columbus, Ohio, throughout her life she resided in several states, including California and Washington DC. But has always been a life-long resident of Columbus, and a devoted Ohio State University Fan.

She was a member of the Sickle Cell Anemia Association. Though she battled sickle cell anemia, she was able to lead a very eclectic life. She fought a long and strenuous battle with Sickle Cell Anemia and was the epitome of a SOLDIER!

She attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from West High School. She also attended Strayer University studying culinary arts. Her cooking skills were impeccable; that homemade chili and her sweet potato pies should have been marketed! Patti aint got nothing on her!

She was an incredible, multi-talented artist. She was the queen of arts & crafts and if you gave her a toothpick, she could build you a house. She had a knack for making one laugh, especially on her podcast and videos that she and her BFF/Sister Hazel would produce, direct, host, and star in. She became an avid angler with the desire to go fishing whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Dawn was a member of Greater Praise Missionary Baptist Church and choir member. She loved to sing and I’m sure she is standing front and center in God’s Heavenly Choir. She had a steadfast Love for the Lord and enjoyed her Bible reading and Bible studies. Unconditional Love is what she gave to everyone, with full acceptance and without expecting anything in RETURN. Her love for her children and grandchildren was like no other; devotion and adoration are what she displayed and exhibited.

Dawn was a stickler when it came to her departure from your presence never would she use the words “Good-Bye.” It was and will always be: See you later or just simply, LATER!

She was preceded in death by Mother, Ann Foster; father, Donald Patterson; grandmothers, Anna McCarthy and Idella Tarrant; brother, Anthony Eddins; cousin/sister, Delvonna Carter.

She leaves cherish her memory children, Donzel King, Jailen Ross, and Fredrick Johnson; grandchildren, Zuri and Aziel King-Owens; significant other, Leon Cole; parents, Gregory Vonhoupe and Kelly Vonhoupe-Myrick; siblings, Michele (MelReese) Patrick, Rochelle Collier, Daryl Foster, Hazel Foster, Marvin Patterson, Erika Houpe, Craig Kenney, Melissa Williams, Jovone Houpe, JoVonna Knight, Gregory Houpe, Jr., and Simeon Turner; cousin/brother, Anthony (Big Tone) Johnson; aunts, Jamie Perkin, Melanie Smith, Crystal Carmon and Yvette Carmon; godmothers, Bessie Sherrod and Debbie Gooch; ex-partner/husband, Vaughn Brown; and special loved ones, Dorika, Ashley,Tyla, Bradley, Tia, Stephanie, Anna, Matias, Tootie, and Patricia.
