Devin L Jones

Devin LaMar Jones, Sr., was born August 8, 1980, to Martha Jones and Phillip Byrd; however, he was raised by Prince Pack, whom he affectionately referred to as his Dad.

During his short life, Devin had three children: Devin LaMar Jones ll, Devon’ye Love Jones, and De’Vaun LaMont Jones.

Devin, Sr., departed this life at the tender age of forty-three years on August 14, 2023. He attended Buckeye Middle School and went on to Graduate from Marion Franklin High School in 1998, and continued his journey to Wilberforce University, where he majored in Art and Graphic Designs. It was there that he found his passion for pencil and charcoal art, which he mastered. Devin worked with his brother as a professional painter until he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where God called him to work with him in caring for the Church of Our Lady of Joy, where he worked as the custodian and cared for the church. This was Gods mysterious way of calling his sheep to the fold. Those of us who knew Devin, Sr., knew he never met a stranger; he accepted people as they were.

Dedicated to family and friends by any means necessary.  Energetic in life and earnest to help others.  Valiant when protecting those you loved.  Imaginative to see the good in everyone.  Notable in character, charisma, style, and grace.  We are so grateful to have shared you as a son, nephew, brother, cousin, and most importantly, a loving father and a friend to all.  A NOTEWORTHY MAN.

Devin, Sr., was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Esther M. Jones; uncle, Myron Kahn Thigpen; cousins, Steven and Rondell Brinkley; paternal grandfather, Willie A. Byrd; and uncles, Tommy Byrd and Ruth Parks. Devin, Sr., leaves joyful memories to: his mother, Martha Jones (Prince); children, Devin L. Jones ll, Devon’ye L Jones (Alice), and DeVaun L.Jones (Amanda); grandson, Devin L. Jones III; brothers, Thomas Arline (Cassie) and Shawn Johnson; aunt, Melissa Wade, Nieces Jayla, and Tamia; nephews, Jayden and James; cousins, Eric A. Wade and D’ Angelo K.Thigpen (Karol), Mateo and Sophia Thigpen, and Madison and Cayden Wade; and countless family and friends.
