Dishon Cortez Coles affectionately known as “Tata” was born July 31,1976, in Columbus, Ohio to Joseph “Daddy” and Teresa “Mommy” (Wallace) Coles. He transitioned this life on January 29, 2023, at his childhood home surrounded by his family and close friends.
Dishon attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from Independence High School Class of 1996. During his high school years, he played football, ran track, and had special love for music. Dishon was a member of the IHS Choral and Show choirs where he had the “Dishon Coles Director Award” named after him. During his early childhood years, he sang in the Columbus Boys Choir with his brother’s “Junior” and “Poopy”. Dishon accepted Christ as a young adult at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist and then moved his membership to New Jerusalem Church of Christ. He was a man of faith and believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He served and fellowshipped in various ministries associated with the Kingdom building process throughout his life.
Dishon was employed by Burger King, McDonalds, Einstein Bros. Bagels and mostly recently the United States Postal Services. During his time at McDonalds’s, he attended and successfully graduated from Hamburger University in Chicago, Illinois. Dishon enjoyed time playing his video games, taking his sons to WWF wrestling events here in Columbus, watching sports with his daughter Harper, cooking, and he loved a good hearty meal with a root beer from time to time. Dishon’ s presence will be missed at the Coles family reunions where he often led the family prayers and participated in the games and events with the children.
Dishon is proceed in death by his grandparents, Joseph, and Mary Coles, James and Imogene Wallace, mother of his sons Monica Coles, his brother Fred L. Coles, aunts Catherine Parnell, Diane Coles, Martha Jean Wright, Tequila Wallace, and uncle Larry Coles. Dishon leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Quiana Coles, sons, Gyasi Coles and Dishon Coles Jr., stepson, Devon Johnson, daughter Harper Coles, parents Joseph and Teresa (Wallace) Coles Jr, brothers Donnie (Sandy) Coles, Clarence (Tausha) Wallace Sr., Dion Coles, Joseph (LeAndra) Coles III, sister Diona Coles, God mom, Clarice Lee, and host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and close friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved Him.
