Donald Dwayne Newman

Donald “Donnie” Dwayne Newman, 56, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones and caregivers on August 1, 2022, after a short battle with lung cancer. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 15, 1966, to Charles and Phyllis Newman, Donnie was like Bruce Lee and “Karate Kid” as a child, always kicking out windows, and he loved watching Bruce Lee movies.

Donald was a loving, vibrant, and carefree, silly father and always had a way of leaving an impression on people.  Donnie was also a passionate fisherman. He spent most of his free time sailing on his boat with his children and riding dirt bikes. He loved listening to music and taking care of his house plants, which he adored.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Newman; uncles, Jeffrey Norman, Martin Norman, Billy Norman, and Micheal Norman; aunts, Theresa Felix, Gladys “sissy” Newman, and Brenda Norman; brother, Tony Newman; and daughter, Daylee Newman.

He was survived by: his mother, Phyllis Newman; sisters, Annie Duling and Robin Newman; sons, Dwaine Newman (Kayla Newman) and Derric Newman (Briana Newman); daughters, Danyiel Newman (James Burks) and Savannah Mosley; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donald will be missed by those who had the opportunity to love him and experience his sense of humor. His legacy will live on through his family and friends.
