Doris White Obituary

Doris A. (Ludaway) White was born on July 28, 1935 to Richard and Mabel (Dumas) Ludaway in Columbus, Ohio. She was raised by Richard and Annie (Long) Ludaway since the age of 10 or 11. Doris was a 1954 graduate of South High School. Doris was married to Wendell K. White, Jr. and they bore four children. After his death in 1971, she continued to be a dedicated mother to her children. Doris loved to bowl and play softball. She played on the DCSC (now DSCC) softball team during her employ. After she left DCSC, she was employed with a law firm and later an attendance secretary for Columbus City Schools where she retired. She remained active and played a season of softball with her daughters and son with Ebony Panthers in Reynoldsburg OH in 1999. She continued bowling in fall and summer leagues for many years. She was an avid seamstress sewing prom, wedding, and other items. Some she designed herself. She sewed until she could not around 2020. Doris loved the Lord and it showed with those she came in contact with. She sang with the Chancel Choir at Macedonia Baptist Church where the Rev BL Brantley was pastor. She held membership at other local
churches and later joined Faith Ministries Church, Pastor C. Dexter Wise, III. She was an Usher and loved dancing with the “Golden Girls.” She also designed, from photos,
and hand sewed the country flags for the International Fellowship of Faith Ministries (IFFM) which they still use today. Doris was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary (LA2K) American Veterans Post 2000 in Columbus OH, where her daughter Vickie is currently Commander.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wendell K. White, Jr., daughter Debra L. Bryant, sisters Vivian White and Arnetta Meade (Locke); brothers Wade, Anthony, and Andrew (Mark) Ludaway.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Veronica White, Vickie White (Michael) Callender; son Wendell K. (Johnna) White III; sisters Velma, Peggy, and Wanda Ludaway; brothers Richard Jr., Raymond, Godfrey (Sharon), Matthew (Theresa), Eric (Fannie), and Ronnie (Janice) Ludaway; grandchildren; Wendell White IV, Latoya White, Anthony and Brandon Bryant, Sasha Virgee, and Michael K.
