Edward “Eddie” Lamont Cason, 47 of Columbus, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. He was born February 15, 1972, in Steubenville, OH, the son of Laura (Cason) Racino of Columbus, OH and the late Ralph Edward Whatley.
He was also proceeded in death by maternal grandparents James (Ruby) Cason and paternal grandparents Thomas (Berthalee) Whatley.
Affectionately known as “Ed” or “Eddie” he attended both West High School and graduated from Centennial High School, Columbus, OH. Where he displayed his athletic skills both on the basketball court and football field.
A chef by trade Eddie loved to cook and worked at Max & Ermas’ for more than 10 years as well as various restaurants throughout Columbus. He coined himself the “Barbeque Master” and was always ready to cook and share his culinary delights at family functions. Eddie was known for his sense of humor, hearty laughter and his enthusiasm for sports. His favorite team was the Denver Broncos.
In addition to his loving mother Sis. Laura (Cason) Racino, Eddie is survived by a daughter LaShawnda Hutchinson, 2 grandsons, Jhearamyah and Josiah Caine all of Columbus; fiancée Nicole McGlone of Columbus; 4 sisters, Virginia Whatley of Steubenville, Jamie and Rebecca Cason and Tonya (Jerrod) Cason-Jones all of Columbus; 2 brothers, Lamar (Teresa) Whatley and Dirk Edward (Beth) Whatley both of Steubenville, and a host of nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews, cousins and 2 special friends Tyrone Morris and Ka’Sheba Stevenson
