Elder Kelly L. Johnson

Elder Kelly Lewis Johnson entered into this world as a blessing August 26, 1971, in Beckley, West Virginia, to his loving parents Johnnie and Sandra Johnson.

Elder Kelly Johnson received Christ at an early age under the direction of Bishop Joseph White, at the Pool of Bethesda Church of the Living God International Inc. He started preaching at the age of 13, and was featured in the Call&Post newspaper. He preached all over the world, and was a faithful musician at Greater Light Church of the Living God. He was a Bible Study leader, and The Pastor of Vine of Wisdom Church of the Living God. He received his Elder’s license at the Temple of Faith Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Roger J. Hairston, Sr., where he was a faithful member. He also attended Valor Christian College and has many other accolades.

Kelly was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, L.M. and Viola Johnson, and John and Virginia Holland.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving parents, Johnnie and Sandra Johnson; Sonya Johnson, the mother of his devoted children, Antonio “AJ”, Kytisha, and Alexis Johnson; brothers, Minister Michael (Tamara) Johnson, and Corey (Carletta) Johnson. Fianceé, Kelly Brown. Five grandchildren, Antonio, Asher, Atles, Olivia, and Olive Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews; and close friends, Jamal Stevens and Elder Robert Shelton.

Kelly fought a good fight, and received a kidney after a long illness and was named a “hero” for being an organ donor as well.

Kelly departed this life on March 3, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. to be with the Lord. He will be greatly missed, but we are comforted by the Word: “...We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8
