Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Elder Leroy S. Johnson, answered the call from his heavenly Father to come home and rest on Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was born on December 3, 1945, to Marion K. Johnson and Julia Thorton.
He graduated from Easton High School in Washington, D. C., and attended Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio. He worked for many years at the Franklin County MRDD until he retired.
Leroy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the early age of 19. He was later ordained an Elder in the early 1990s under the late Quanda L. Wilson.
In his later years, his favorite pastime was fishing. He really enjoyed sports such as basketball and football. His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife of 42 years, Dorothy A. Johnson; he also leaves one sister, Dorothy Hollis, and loving friends and brother and sister, Henry and Dianne Mackey;
aunt, Dorothy Powell; sister-in-law, Yvonne Lyles West; son, Frederick Shepherd; five daughters, Melissa Shepherd-Hardy (Jamie), Lakezia Johnson-Lott, DeJuana Bass, LeWana Johnson, and Latrice Johnson; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Kenneth and Tina Lee; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
