Eric Alan Gunther was born on January 26, 1967, in Warren, Ohio, to James T. Gunther and Elouise Caldwell-Gunther. Eric was a 1985 graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School. Following his graduation, Eric felt a calling to serve his country. He enlisted in the US Army where he served his country proudly. Upon completing his military service, Eric embarked on a new
chapter in his life, where he chose to make Columbus, Ohio, his permanent residency.
On June 5, 2000, Eric found his calling in the healthcare industry where he served as an Electronic Imaging Technician at Riverside Methodist Hospital, utilizing his skills to contribute to the well-being and care of countless patients. Outside of his professional life, Eric was an avid fan of the television game show Jeopardy! His keen mind and love for trivia made him a formidable opponent, as he rarely answered a question incorrectly. Eric's passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to shine brightly. Eric's devotion to Christ was reflected in every aspect of his life.
Preceding Eric in death were his parents, father, James T. Gunther, and mother, Elouise Caldwell-Gunther; maternal grandparents, Owen and Louise; paternal grandparents, James and Dora Gunther; father-in-law, Lamar Glenn; and sister, Tawana Gunther.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Gunther; mother-in-law, Wanda Glenn; children, Ashley Stephens of Warren, Ohio, Edward Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Eric Atkins of Memphis,Tennessee, Paige and Peyton Gunther of Columbus, Ohio; he is also survived by his brothers, James A. Gunther (Elizabeth) of Youngstown, Ohio, and Owen A. Gunther (Felisia) of Lake City, Florida, as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and two very special cousins, Clea Sangster-Caldwell (Jon) of Columbus, Ohio, and Carrie Daniels of Warren, Ohio. Eric transitioned to his eternal home on April 14, 2024, surrounded by the embrace of his loved ones.
