February 17, 1934 ~ February 29, 2024 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Ernest Smith Jr. Obituary

Ernest Junior Smith (Love) was born February 17,1934, to Edna Smith and Ernest Law, and raised in the Bronx, New York. After completing his schooling at PS 51 Bronx Stem and Arts Academy at the age of 17, he entered the United States Airforce serving in England, Japan, and other overseas and stateside assignments as a highly recognized Military police officer and as a highly recognized honor guard. After returning to the Bronx, New York he was hired and worked for the New York Housing Authority as a sanitation/custodian employee.  Being offered the opportunity to excel in his education and becoming promoted, he chose to further his education and career. After completing his education, training, and apprenticeship degree program he became a Licensed Pest Control Exterminator and retired from the NYHA in 1996. For a portion of his time, he was also a Union Representative. He was also offered the opportunity to become a foreman. In 1997, he was baptized and gave his life to our FATHER the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST becoming a Christian and serving for life. While in Georgetown, South Carolina, after being baptized, he chose to comply with volunteering and assisting the minister of the Kingstree Church of Christ and leader of the minster school that Ernest was attending in bringing two Christian young men to Columbus, Ohio, to attend the Alkire Road Church of Christ young men’s minister school. While in Columbus, Ohio and during the visit to Watkins Road Church of Christ, he met and two months later married his wife of 23 years and six months to the day, EyVonne.

Along with the sincere ultimate desire of constantly studying his Bible. He did this while in the hospital by listening to bible studies on his tablet every day up until his last day and becoming biblically wiser. He had the passion for his lifelong fishing hobby and his lifelong professional photography skills.

Those proceeding him were needed by GOD, his mother, Edna, his father, Ernest, and his three sisters, Bernice, Florence, and Joan.

Those still existing and grieving are as follows: his wife, EyVonne, children, Eric ( ), Corey (Chris), Leslie (Milton) Tonia, Tony, Tonika (Myron), Tonietta.  His grandchildren, Corey (Chris), 3, Eric, 4, Ty, Nia, Diamond (Nevin), Wayne, Tony, Malachi, Makayla, John, Kyron, Myron; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, John, and Neriah; Special Daughter Tonietta “Teki”; brother, Carl (Melody); special friends, Billy McVay, Dan Collier, and David Stevens; many other relatives and friends; special nieces, Denise, and Doreen; and special brother and friend, Ronald (Chong)

He was needed by GOD on February 29, 2024. Being a miraculously wonderful loving retired Christian husband, friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, our HEAVENLY FATHER the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST granted him with the special special blessing of 90 years of living. I miss you, Love.
