Esther Christine Broadus (Ferrell) departed this life on January 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Christine affectionately known as “Bones” and “Granny” was born on December 19, 1945 to the union of Harry D. Broadus and Mabel (Wade) Broadus. She attended Linden McKinley High Schooland was a swimmer, model and seamstress. She later honed her skills as a cosmetologist working for Fashionetta Beauty Salon. She worked for Windsor Elementary School, Wayne T. Lee Funeral Home and LifeCare Alliance.
Christine never met a stranger, loved to talk and had a servant’s heart. From an early age she attended the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith until her sickness. She loved cooking for and entertaining her family whether at home or at various restaurants including Waffle House and York Steakhouse. The family willmiss her famous sweet potatoes, collard greens, Sunday pot roast, ambrosia salad and her love for a cold Pepsi. Christine enjoyed shopping for deals at thrift stores and garage sales where she often found gifts for her family and friends.
Christine is preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers, Leroy Rogers, Nathanial (Gomez) Broadus, Harry D. Broadus, Jr., sisters, Betty Tucker, Mary Jane Banner, Patricia Howard, Ruth Turner, Sharon Smith, Virginia Coleman, Jackie Broadus and Frances Broadus.
She is survived by her husband MacDonald Ferrell, son Harold C. Warner Sr., granddaughter Tasha Fowler (Troy), grandson Harold C. Warner, Jr., great-grandsons Tyre Warner, Robert Booker, and Mekhi Warner, surviving sisters, Charlene Backner, Emma Simms, Rebecca “Becky” Flint, uncle Frank Wade (CA) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friend Denise Williams. She will be missed by all.
