Felton Foster, as he would say was called to the Upper Room in Glory Wednesday July 24, 2024, peacefully at his Residence under Home Hospice surrounded by his two loving daughters, granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
“Felt”, affectionally called by friends and family, to the streets he was “TopCat”, but the proudest name was “PAWPAW”.
Felton served United States Army, fighting in the Korean War. He relocated to Columbus, OH and worked at RC Cola Company where he picked up the name “Popman”. He married Martha Joetta Gullick and they raised 6 children together. He worked for the government at Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) for 30 years of Service one notably part-time job the “Parking Lot” across the street from Grant Hospital for Doctor Dr. John Arthur and Doctor Godfrey and Dr. Liu. He retired in 1991 from DCSC for two weeks and went back to work at Master Clean and Grant Hospital. Finally retiring 2006. Topcat was a model employee never missing any days of work.
Pawpaw loved baseball often listening to games on the radio and watching for hours on the television. We children often went to bed to the sound of the radio announcer. He also loved football True Ohio Football teams The Ohio State Buckeyes “Go Bucks” Cleveland Browns Cincinnati Bengals.
Paw- Paw had a love of jazz music and could educate you on various artists. Pawpaw had a heart of gold and loved spoiling his children at Christmas and grands and great-grandchildren with bonus gifts. He loved his cars being his thunderbirds after driving station wagons for years after his children were older. Topcat loved soul food and could cook anybody under the table he was a very patience cook often producing delicious food. His specialty to us children was his “Homemade Ice-Cream” banana pudding, fried corn, BBQ Ribs on the Grill famous for his homemade barbecue Sauce. Topcat was say It’s a Foster Thing” playing jazz while enjoying cooking especially at cleaning Chitlins at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years at the Kitchen Sink.
Pawpaw was a fair and understanding man who would talk to you for hours if he liked you and enjoyed watching good old country western movies. He did not play about the cost of paying cable bill because he enjoyed watching the History Channel.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years Martha Joetta Foster (Gullick), Mother Donnie Foster and Father Jerry Foster, Mother In-law Frances Carter (Gullick (Freddy), Brother Herbert Foster, Sister-In-Law Lois Ann, Foster Brother Eugene Clarke of Spartanburg, SC.: Brother in-law Theodore A. Gullick (Buzzy), Sons: Terry Vaughn Foster, Todd Herbert Foster, Darryl Lee Foster, Granddaughter Randa Ntika Foster.
He leaves to cherish his memories Son Stephen (Thenila) Foster Jonesboro Ga, Daughters Tracey (Theodore) Toland Onda Foster, Granddaughters: Deja Foster, Sentra Joe (Bradford Batiste Sr.) (Lafayette, La) Jessica Foster (James) Johnson, Columbus, Ohio Tyrica Foster ( Atlanta, Ga) The One and Only: Grandson Blake (Char-Grace) Foster Austin, Tx, Two Great-Granddaughter’s: Blair Foster (Austin Tx) Bella Batiste (Lafyette LA), Great-Grandsons: Bradford Batiste, Jr. (Lafayette, La) Ian Foster (Austin, TX) Christopher Cormier (Sierra), Kyle Cormier Kameron Brown (Lafayette LA) Donte Knight, Zairon Martin (Columbus,Ohio ) Azure, Seven (Dearborn, MI). One surviving sister-in-law: Ida Gullick Flewellyn.
