George Pickles

George “Pickles” Anthony Pickles passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the age of 62. George was born the oldest of eight children to Mary
Jo Pickles in Portsmouth, Ohio, on September 1, 1961.

George graduated from Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, Ohio, where he ran track. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  George was a jack of all trades. He had a passion in the kitchen and could cook absolutely ANYTHING. His love for music touched everyone’s soul. He loved being a DJ and his music selection was amazing. He was also a HUGE Buckeyes fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Pickles, brother, Kareem Smith, stepson, Charles Sweatt III, and his mother, Mary “Imani” Smith.

He is survived by his children, Kylayna Pickles, Anthony Pickles (Brittney), Shakayne Pickles, and Gabrielle Pickles; sisters, Melissa Mitchell (Jerome), Angela Smith, Monique Smith (Ricky), Ebonie Smith, and Venus Knox (Lawrence); brothers, Octavian Smith (Kristy) and McShan Smith (Robin); grandchildren, Kylin, Toran, Xavier, Kyra, Kyrese, Kyden, Taliyah, and Stoney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”  Psalm 23
