Gilbert Abbington

Gilbert R. Abbington III was born on January 7, 1991, in Columbus, Ohio.

He departed this life on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was the father of two living children, My’Asia Faith and King Gilbert Abbington. Gillie, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Columbus Public School System.

He attended church at The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith and Grace New Covenant Church. Gilbert was loved deeply by his family and friends.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his adopted father, Bernard Simms; grandparents, Gilbert and Willa Abbington; grandfather, Alfonzo Walker; uncle, Gilbert Abbington, Sr.; and brother, Jordan Martin.

He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Emma P. Simms and Charmell Abbington; son, King Gilbert Abbington; daughter, My’Asia Faith Abbington; siblings, Crystal (Ron) Carson, Jacqueline (James) Bing, Daryl (Alisha) Abbington, Charrelle Jackson, Darrelle Jackson, Seritha Abbington, Aleana Abbington, Jatia Moore, Allan Moore, Sinyte Simms, and Jamal Simms; special cousins, James (Sandy) Dunlap, Aaron Rice, Shawn Rice, Ronald C. Carson, Jr., and Tyffany Rice; aunts, Becky Flint, Charlene Backner, Patricia Smith, and Christine (Donald) Ferrell; Children’s mother, Asia Wright; Fiance and unborn son’s (Gilbert Russell Abbington IV) mother, Ernisa Howard; step daughter, Aubrieel Howard, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
