Ida Medrith (Mae) Glenn, age 65, was called home on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at her home. Ida was born on July 21, 1955, in Columbus, OH, to Esther Black and Eugene Evans. She grew up in Hillsboro, OH, where she graduated from Hillsboro High School, class of 1973. While attending Hillsboro High School, she played basketball and volleyball and participated in talent and variety shows. Ida later moved back to Columbus. In 1976, she began her 30 year career with General Motors, from which she retired in 2006.
Ida was a devoted, loving mother and family member. As a member of Calvary Tremont Baptist Church, she sang in the choir, helped in the kitchen, and served on the Deaconess Board. Ida was a woman full of the spirit of God. She had a heart of gold and an outgoing personality. She would take the time to pray with anyone who needed it. Ida was the neighborhood mom and offered her home and heart to any child in need. She loved to cook and would do so for anybody, even when she wasn’t feeling well. Everyone that encountered Ida just fell in love with her because of her kind personality and warm heart.
Ida was preceded in death by her mother, Esther M. Black, father, Edward E. Evans, stepfather, Charles Black, and nephew, Charles Tynes.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her child, Justin (Alisha) Glenn; stepchildren, Scott, Candy, and Tammy Glenn; sisters, Sandy Tynes, Mary King, and Frances Cumberland; nieces and nephews, Joann Allen, Lance Duncan, Edward Cumberland, Di-Jon King, and Shirley Ferguson; special daughter, Kimberly Henderson; and a host of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
