With heavy hearts and boundless love, we celebrate the beautiful life of Ja’kiya J. Johnson, affectionately known as Kiya. She was born on May 27, 2000, and gained her heavenly wings on January 20, 2026, after a courageous and lengthy battle with heart disease. Through countless hospital visits and life’s toughest moments, Ja’kiya displayed remarkable strength, resilience, and determination far beyond her years.
Ja’kiya was the beloved daughter of Shannon Moore and Johnnie (Jay) Johnson, Jr. Family and friends meant everything to her, and she was deeply loved and cherished by those closest to her. Known for her kind heart, comforting presence, and unconditional love, Ja’kiya also had a feisty but beautiful spirit that made her unforgettable. Her strength and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.
Ja’kiya found joy in life’s simple pleasures—listening to music, watching her favorite ASMR cornstarch videos, and spending meaningful time with her friends and family. She adored her doggy brother, whom she lovingly nicknamed Tankadoyah. A true lover of fashion, Ja’kiya expressed herself through her love of clothes and shoes, always shining with her personal style, signature red hair, and radiant spirit. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas, as she cherished family gatherings and togetherness.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings from her father’s side: Jaevon Johnson, Serenity Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Halo Johnson, Jaikece Johnson, and bonus brothers Christian Brown and Tyon Davis. She is also remembered with love by her maternal grandmother, Robin Pannell; great grandmothers Ella Pannell and Delores Moore, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Ja’kiya was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Warren Newton Moore Jr.; maternal great-grandfather, Warren Newton Moore, Sr.; and her paternal grandparents, Johnnie Johnson, Sr., and Theresa Johnson.
