Jaleel Anthony Carter-Tate son of Tracy Lynn Tate and William Paul Carter was born on Monday, March 6, 1995, in Columbus, Ohio. He received his early education in Columbus City Schools graduating from Walnut Ridge High School. Even with this tragedy, God has always smiled on Jaleel. He was an educated young man that came from a great family. Jaleel was an athlete playing football in his youth and developed a love for basketball playing for the Walnut Ridge Scouts his senior year. Jaleel went on to Wilberforce University majoring in Criminal Justice.
Jaleel was a sweet soul that had a beautiful heart of gold. Many would describe him as a kindhearted mama’s boy that could light up the room with his vibrant, infectious smile and big beautiful eyes. One thing for sure, you were guaranteed a great laugh while in his presence. He was a true comedian and you always left him with a smile. Jaleel was a writer he loved expressing himself through poetry and rap.
Jaleel was a true Tate, surrounded by love from his aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers and cousins. He has a solid crew of friends that have supported him through every major change in his life. Jaleel had so many great plans for his future. One which included welcoming his first baby into the world. Our sweet soul was so excited to be a Daddy!
Jaleel, Jamel Puff and his brother Jerick were active entrepreneurs operating a car detailing business. Jaleel was always known for his maculate appearance. His nickname was affectionately known as the “Drip King”. Through all of the heart ache and pain of this tragedy we have so many memories from our beloved Jaleel. He blessed us with his presence and smile and we are grateful to say we knew him.
