Jason Dawson I Obituary

Jason Paul Dawson entered this world on September 17, 1988 to Karen and James Dawson in Columbus, OH. He was called into heavenly rest on May 1, 2024 at the age of 35.

Jason's early education began in Columbus City Schools and continued through graduation from Worthington Christian High School in 2006. Jason's lifelong passion was the sport of basketball where he was a star player in high school and on various AAU teams.

He continued to hone his skills at the prestigious Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA. He earned a scholarship to play basketball at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC where he pledged and joined the brotherhood of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and later transferred to Gardner Webb University in Bowling Green, SC and then to Mt. Vernon Nazarene in Mt. Vernon, OH where he completed his collegiate education. Jason went on to play professional basketball overseas in Canada and Australia.

Upon returning home, he began coaching in his beloved sport. for high school boys junior varsity then was elevated to Head Coach for girls varsity team, guiding them to a state championship game, finishing as state runner-up. He left coaching to start a training program for basketball players to elevate them to elite' status. With his D.O.S.E. (Developing Our Story Everyday) program and molded several students to Ohio High School Mister Basketball status and a current NBA player. He then moved to Charlotte, NC where he became associated with the Carolina Factory as the Director of Player Development / NBA Skills Coach.

Jason was preceded in death by grandparents, Margaret and Fred Johnson; aunt ,Beverly Sundel; uncle, Fred D. Johnson Jr.

He is survived by wife, Adriana Dawson; parents, Karen Johnson Dawson and James Dawson of Columbus; daughter, Ariah Grace Dawson; son, Kenzo Dawson; brother, James Patrick Dawson; brother-friend, Cameron Campbell Finch; special best friends, Teddy Alemu and Ryan McFadden; many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins;
and numerous friends and associates.
