Jerick Jacobs-Tate Obituary

Jerick Travon Jacobs- Tate entered this world Saturday, May 30, 1998 to Tracy Tate and Richard (Ricky) Jacobs in Columbus, Ohio. He received his early childhood education at Columbus Public Schools. Jerick attended Walnut Ridge High School with his siblings and later transferred to Groveport Madison where he received his high school diploma in 2016. Like most boys, Jerick loved sports. Growing up he played baseball, football, and basketball right alongside his big brother, Jaleel.

Jerick loved his family. He looked up to his father(s) and brothers, admired his mother, and protected his sisters. Family was everything to him. It did not matter if you did not agree completely with him at the time, he ALWAYS made sure that you knew he loved you. Like Jaleel, Jerick had a sweet soul and made it his business to always have a good time. He enjoyed life. He especially enjoyed his cousins and their many impromptu gatherings. Jaleel may have been is mothers twin in looks but no one could top Tracy’s dance moves like Jerick. Jerick could cut a rug like no other and then top it off with backflips that would leave the crowd in awe. Jerick had a keen sense of humor. No matter what life threw at him, he knew how to make any and every one laugh and smile.

Over the last year, Jerick found love in traveling. Being able to see various parts of the world gave him a new lust for life especially after the tragic loss of his brother. He began putting ideas in motion for his detailing company in which he and Jaleel began together with the help of their friend, Jamel. Though starting a business was a major move, his favorite job was being a daddy. His babies were his world. He would do anything to see them smile and they knew it. Jerick also loved being an uncle to Jaleel Jr (Junie). You could not tell him that was not his son too! Jerick knew that he would soon welcome another child. He was so elated and excited about welcoming this sweet little soul into the world.

Like Jaleel, Jerick was surrounded by love and a solid crew of friends that he considered his brothers. Through he was faced with tragedy with losing his best friend, he tried his best to remain in good spirits especially for his babies and his mom. Jerick danced through his storm until the end. We now must do the same for him to keep his legacy alive.
