He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Hattie “Louise” Crews Lindsey; sons, Rayshawn Leftwich and John Briggs, Jr.; daughters, Tamika Goff, Phylicia Briggs, and Tenille of North Carolina; brothers, Jerry and Allen Briggs; sisters, Vicky Jones and Bernadine Briggs; children’s mothers, Phyllis Bowman and Deborah “Sissy” Reeves; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
John Gary Briggs, Sr., also known to many as “Poot” “Poot Neck” or “P’Funk” was a GREAT MAN. He lived a life of many lifestyles and enjoyed life. He was an outdoors man who loved fishing and hunting. He was great with the crossbow down to hunting with a rock. He loved his family, family gatherings, and cooking on the grill. He loved meeting new people and mingling; he could fit into anywhere he went and make new friends.
He loved women; all he needed was three minutes and he had them hooked, LOL. He was a man of love and happiness, and if he didn’t do anything, he would make you laugh. He was a fighter and put up a good fight to stick around for his grandkids; he loved them with everything he had in him. Proud to say in his last years he became a new man—a great son, father, Paw-Paw and brother.
As he would say: “TRICK NO GOOD”
