Jon Edward Small, Jr.

Jon Edward Small, Jr., was born on April 4, 1993, in Syracuse, New York to Jon Edward Small Sr. and Carolyn Vanessa Medley. On Friday January 23, 2026, Jon Jr. heard a whisper from his heavenly father saying gently, “come home my son and I will give you rest”. Jon Jr. was a graduate of Tecumseh High and also took classes at Columbus State Community College in 2010. Jon Jr. worked for Event Management Services for 10 years at various Ohio State sporting events and concerts, both home and away. 

Jon Jr., known to his family as “Jon Jon”, was not perfect–none of us are. But he had a big genuine heart and wanted to solve everyone’s problems. He was loving and caring and often had a smile on his face even through the roughest times. Jon Jr. was good at finding a way to make you laugh. He loved being outdoors and he loved all of his children dearly. Jon Jr. had a very charismatic personality, but he was also a strong, stand-up individual and wasn’t afraid of anything or anyone. Jon Jr. was a loving and caring son who threw his mother a 60th birthday party and was very close to his dad. He also had many “godmothers” who loved him and now take comfort in knowing that he has gained his wings. 

Jon Jr. is preceded in death by his aunt, Enriqueta (Small) Bivens, cousins Michelle, Vickie, Chad and Shad Bivens, Glen Martin Jr.; his grandfathers, Charles Lindbergh Small Sr. and William Sidney Medley; his grandmothers, Laura Bradford Medley and Carolina Labro Small; his brother Jamar Small, and his stepmother Carol Timmons Small. 

Jon Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his father, Jon Edward Small Sr. and his mother, Carolyn Vanessa Medley; other mother, Carmen Higgins; his son, Jamir Small; his daughters Shyanne Gunn, Nevaeh Rainne, Journee Skye; his siblings, JayShawn Small, Janae Small, Zion Small, and Cincere Edwards along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
