Josie Mae Pogue was born in Moultrie, GA, August 22, 1925, to Joseph and Roberta Smith. Her family moved to Columbus when she was very young. Educated in Columbus, she attended Starling Central High School and OSU. She was employed at DSCC here in Columbus, until moving to New York City where she met her husband of 61 years.
She raised her three children, Walter, Diana, and Margaret. After moving back to Columbus, she was a member of Oakley Baptist Church for years before joining Faith Ministries. Willing and enjoyed helping others. She also loved doing Super Saturday and traveling when able.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Walter; and daughter, Margaret.
Left to mourn her are her daughter, Diana; grandchildren, John, Joseph, and Tamika; great-grandson, Elijah; nieces, Pauline Barnes of Columbus, OH, Vera Hilton of Charleston, SC, and Gloria (Tyrone) Harper of Columbia, SC; and her church family and friends.
