Juanita Hamiter, age 70, was born July 3, 1954 to John & Cortez Juanita Scales, in Beckley, West Virginia.She graduated from Mifflin High School in Columbus, OH and received her Associates Degree from Columbus State Community College and her Bachelor Degree from University of Phoenix. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 20, 2024.
A resident of Phoenix, Arizona on and off since 2005, Juanita served the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul. She retired from Nationwide Insurance after spending more than 20 years working in various roles and finishing her career as a Quality Assurance Analyst.
She was an intercessor and had a heart of service. Prior to moving to Arizona, Juanita was a faithful member of New Horizons Christian Fellowship Church and even after the move, stayed connected by participating in prayer and teaching Bible Study remotely. Juanita also loved baking and was well known for her carrot cake and 24-hr salad. She also loved quilting and knitting. She made several baby blankets and graduation quilts for those that she loved.
She was preceded in death by her father John E. Scales; brother John E. Scales, Jr.; sister Cynthia Alls; son, Marvin E. Hamiter, Jr.; mother-in-law, Olivia L. Hamiter; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hamiter.
Juanita is survived by her beloved husband, Marvin E. Hamiter, Sr.; daughter, Sheila (Corey) Bennett;Grandchildren, Kelia Jackson, Kareem (Alexa) Jackson, Elea Bennett, Kori Bennett, Esrael Bennett, Elisha Bennett, Marvin E. Hamiter III, Danayjah Hamiter, Luis Hamiter; her mother, Cortez Juanita Scales; Sisters, Jacqueline Burroughs, Vivian (Larry) Robinson, Joyce (Eugene) Ellis; brother Charles (Vanessa) Scales;Brother-in-law, Larry (Alice) Hamiter; Sisters-in-law, Sandra (Michael) Laidlaw, Donna Dean and a host ofgreat grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
