Kai Ann Dodley

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kai Ann Dodley, age 21. Kai (she/her/they) was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. She was passionate about family/friends,
music, writing/reading/creating, anime, and video games, which she enjoyed playing and sharing with her friends and loved ones. She brought a perfect balance of humor and seriousness to every situation, making her a beloved daughter, sibling, and friend.

Kai was a proud graduate of Columbus Alternative High School, Class of 2021, where she excelled both academically and creatively.  At the time of her passing, she was working toward completing her trade school certification, a testament to her drive and determination to build a promising future.

Kai was a best friend to her brother, Kaden, sharing a bond that was unshakable and full of love. She was cherished deeply by her boyfriend, Jay, who brought immense joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her dear best friend, Nakia, and her grandmother, Elaine Hamilton, whom she missed profoundly.

Kai leaves behind her loving parents, Stacey and Gerrie (Boone) Dodley; devoted brother, Kaden Boone-Dodley; maternal grandfather, Andre (Elaine) Hamilton of Fort Wayne, Indiana; maternal uncles, Eric Boone, James (Melanie) Boone, Geivon Boone, and Marcus Boone; paternal grandmother, Patricia Ann; great-aunt and great-uncle, Dimitrius and Norma Greene; a large and loving circle of cousins; close family friends, Walter and Nyketa Mason, along with their three children who were family to her.

Kai’s creative spirit, love for the arts, and joy in gaming brought happiness to everyone she met.  Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she inspired, and she will forever be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the way she loved so freely and fully.  “Though her time with us was far too short, Kai’s light will continue to shine in the memories and
love of those she left behind.”
