Keenen “Boogie or Keen-Keen” McShan Smith was heaven sent on Saturday, August 14, 1993, at 5:43 p.m., and was called home suddenly on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:22 p.m. at the age of 31. Keenen was born the oldest of three sons to McShan Smith and Robin Williams-Smith in Columbus, Ohio.
Keenen was an honorable Columbus City School student who attended Easthaven and Oakmont Elementary Schools, where he played the violin and trombone, Yorktown Middle School where he played basketball and baseball. In 2012, Keenen graduated with honors from both Centennial High School, where he played football, basketball and was a member of the track and field team
and the Columbus Downtown High School (Technical National Honor Society) with a major in information technology. He went onto Wilberforce University as a member of the men’s basketball team and graduated Cume Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Johnny Cecil Smith, paternal grandmother Mary Imani Smith and Uncle George Anthony Pickles.
He is survived by his parents: McShan Smith and Robin Williams-Smith; brothers, Xavier Washington (Christina), McShan Smith II (LenJuan), Dazmin Smith (Leondra), and Jaylon Smith; grandmother, Gail Mitchell; grandfather, E. Tim Williams; seven nephews; one niece; seven aunts; three uncles; and a host of cousins.
