Surrounded by loved ones, he left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and inspiration that will continue to touch all who knew him.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on April 6, 1988, to Kim Gilbert and Kevin Hopewell, he entered rest on November 18, 2025. Kevon was preceded in death by his beloved father, Kevin Hopewell;
great-grandmother, Lillian Johnson; grandfather, George Gilbert; and close friend/cousin, Anthony Dixon.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory: mother, Kim Simms; stepfather, Floyd Simms; grandmothers, Ommie L. Binion and Delilah Hopewell; aunts, Charisse (Ronnie) Calloway, Margary Binion, Vickie Gilbert, Kathleen Gilbert Jones, and Carmen Hopewell; uncles, Greg (Mickie) Binion, Marcus Hemphill, George Gilbert, Jr., Michael Gilbert, and Micheal Hopewell; Kevon grew up surrounded by the love of his siblings, Marquis Long, Kevin Hopewell, Jr., Ciera Hopewell, Angelo Rieser, Marlysa Long, Brittanie Gilbert, Kyron Hopewell, Sean Simms, Diesel Simms, Floyd Simms, and Dewaun Wilder; his special cousins, Mark Jackson, Jr., Robert Simms, and Bernard Bias; his first true love, Taiece Anderson; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
From the start, Kevon was a person who brought joy and happiness to all who knew him. He devoted his life to caring for others, always offering a helping hand and a warm smile. His unwavering support and encouragement uplifted those around him, and his generosity knew no bounds. The bonds he forged throughout his life remain unbreakable, and his memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the love he shared, the memories we hold, and the lives he changed. May he rest in peace.
